Cobra Kai is a show that started with karate fights but became much more than that. It showed how people can change, grow, and fix their mistakes. One of the most important characters in the show is Johnny Lawrence. At the beginning, he seemed like a bad guy.
But as the show went on, we learned he wasn’t evil—he was just lost. And in the final episode, Cobra Kai made sure we remembered that Johnny was the true heart of the story.
In the early seasons, Johnny tried to help kids who were bullied or didn’t fit in. He taught them karate and gave them confidence. He wasn’t perfect, and he often made mistakes, but he really cared. At the same time, his old rival Daniel LaRusso came back into his life. Daniel looked like the hero, but sometimes he acted like he wanted to stop Johnny just because of their past.
As the story continued, Johnny struggled to figure out who he really wanted to be. He had trouble being a good dad, a good partner, and a good teacher. But near the end of Cobra Kai, Johnny started to grow. He fixed his relationship with old friends, helped his team win a big tournament called the Sekai Taikai, and proved that he could still fight with strength and heart.
One of the most powerful moments in the final episode was when Daniel tried to catch a fly with chopsticks, just like his old teacher Mr. Miyagi did. But Johnny crushed the fly with his hand and said, “No mercy.” That was the last line of the show, and it reminded fans that Johnny had come full circle. He didn’t need to become someone else—he just needed to believe in himself.
Even though Daniel had a great story in the original Karate Kid movies, Johnny’s story felt unfinished. He lost the big tournament, got hurt by his mentor, and never really got the chance to show who he really was. Cobra Kai gave him that chance. It showed that Johnny was more than a bully. He was brave, funny, and had a big heart.
